What Will Drinking Listerine Do to You?

Question by I has a question: What will drinking listerine do to you?
My younger sister is an alcoholic…i feel partially responsible for this because whenever she asked me to buy booze for her i did…but a few weeks ago i found her passed out in a puddle of vomit in her room…the next day i told her i was worried about her, and being a recovering heroin addict myself, knew she needed help. She has refused to go to rehab or at least detox safely…instead she has started buying and drinking listerine mouthwash. She’s been putting down about a half liter a day and im extremely worried about…

Now i know there was a man who died after drinking 3 liters of mouthwash, and i know that listerine contains a type of alcohol that isnt “safe for drinking”, but is ethyl alcohol so its unlikely to cause blindness…i just need answers to these questions

Is it likely she could die from this because of one of the other ingredients?
Can the buildup of these antiseptic ingredients call long term damage?
And is there anything i can do to help her? She’s 18, my parents cannot force her to go to rehab, and she doesnt want to stop…she knows she drinks too much…but she loves it 🙁

Thanks for your answers guys and gals

Drinking listerine was my mom’s alcoholic bottom of the barrel moment when she ran out of/couldn’t afford a bottle. The Dr told me that the alcohol in listerine isn’t the same as booze and is very toxic – closer to sterno – what it used in chafing dishes.
You should be worried, I’d be calling 911 and get her into rehab. I had a friend who’s boyfriend was such a bad alcoholic that he was drinking her deodorant and anything with a tiny bit of alcohol in it.
Good luck honey, take this really seriously. It’s a bad sign of an addict.

Listerine will kill you way faster than ordinary Booze, you may consider contacting an interventionist to do an intervention (you said you where on dope at one point I imagine you know how that works)
