Heroin Addiction: Heroin Overdose

Heroin overdose

Heroin overdose has become a very serious problem. There are several signs that someone has overdosed, some of these signs include, seizures, clammy skin, blueish nails, fingertips or skin, weak pulse, slow or shallow breathing, reduced blood pressure, drowsiness and pinpoint pupils, seizures and even death. This drug is rapidly growing as one of the most used drugs. It can totally change a person, they get addicted and it runs their life.

Some heroin addicts will shoot it in their veins with needles while others prefer to chop it up and snort it up the nose, usually with a straw. It has caused more deaths by overdose than any other drug, an overdose can result in respiratory failure that will slow breathing, cause shallow breathing and eventually breathing will stop. It has been proven that even after one use of this drug, you could get addicted.

If you think someone you know has this addiction, some signs to look for include, signs of injection, hygiene issues, getting caught in lies, stealing, withdrawal from friends and family, have a far away look in their eyes, slurred speech, hostility, and missing work. If a person has suddenly changed the way they act toward the world then they could be addicted. If this is the case they could eventually die of a heroin overdose.

You may want to help a person that is addicted to prevet a drug overdose but you cant, they have to want to help themselves first. When they decide they need help, there are a few different ways to help get off this terrible drug but the most popular is the use of Methadone, taking the appropriate dosage everyday can remove the craving and withdrawal symptoms. When starting out on a treatment like this, you may be required to make daily trips to a clinic to take the dose under supervision. Some people will choose to continue to take the Methadone for like while others choose to get off of it gradually. In my opinion this could definately prevent a heroin overdose.

Good luck
