Is Russia a Depressing Country to Live In? if So, Why?
Question by Lover: Is Russia a depressing country to live in? If so, why?
I’ve read statistics saying Russia is one of the most depressed countries in the world, if not maybe even the most depressed country. Ukraine is also ranked similarly.
Why do you think this is? And do you think these statistics represent the reality? But what is it about Russia that makes it so depressing? I know there is economic, political and corruption issues but then there are these issues in so many countries across the world where people are not depressed, e.g. Brazil, Argentina, etc.
Also I’ve noticed that most Russians who have money like to leave Russia and move to the USA, UK, Israel or other countries..

All Northern countries+Japan are depressing. In first case it is lack of sun, in second one – specific culture.
Those who move to USA, UK and Israel from Russia do it not because of depression but because of political and cultural issues. Jews want to live among Jewish society (Israel), Russian celebrities are tired of popularity and choose USA, and criminals prefer to reside in UK (so called political refugees).
Those who have money, buy villas in warm countries on the ocean coast (or on the coast of Mediterranean sea).
