prescription pain meds are just as addicting as illegal drugs like crack or heroin. pain meds (like morphine or vicodin for example) have very “euphoric” effects, esp in large doses. They give people a “numbing” or “high”. People don’t understand however, that these drugs are very potent vasodilators and such, and esp when taken in large amounts can cause rapid drops in blood pressure (which can cause ultimately cardiac disrhythmias and arrest), and can severely depress respiratory drive, causing respiratory arrest and death. They also alter ability to drive and function and focus. Coupled with alcohol they are even worse, as alcohol is also a depressant. Such a shame that people become dependant on these things! I am sorry that your ex threw her life away for this…

It’s more about the addiction and no so much about the substance.

A person takes on addictive thinking and sadly it pushes everyone and everything out of the number one spot when it comes to priorities.

Each person’s rock bottom is different and it seems that hers will require she lose everything in the world.
