Perscription Pills and How to Know if Ur Addicted?

Question by Pink Chickita: perscription pills and how to know if ur addicted?
it all started from just taking them randomly at parties becaus i dont drink and i felt like the odd one out by not being messed up…also ive always been very self concious of my weight and not to long ago i realized i was getting fatter…i started eating really healthy and working out like crazy and i would take a pill of some kind to make me not hungry and to not eat excess calories…i only took a pill after my workout after work and that way i wouldnt eat again for the rest of the night to maybe help me lose weight…
im not addicted to them yet but ive been getting them like every other day sometimes every day when i get out of work..( but i can go days without the drug and dont feel like i NEED it) i dont think about them all the time but i use them when i want to relax.. i do not believe that a detox or any type of rehab will be nessesary because its not even close to that point yet..i am just noticing this addictive behavior in myself before it gets out of control…i have a family history of drug abuse and even suicides from drug abuse in my family…im not really sure how to stop “cold turkey” my bf also does them with me and he used to be addicted to heroin before i met him.. i do not want him to fall down the same path and ruin our relationship that is so strong…i would like to know how to help us both (he also doesnt think he has a problem) i would like to maybe wein myself off of it by smoking weed (been a pot head for years) i figured maybe that would help considering it gives you the same type of high feeling.( but would cause anxiety for weight gain hunger) ..if anyone knows how i can talk to my bf about both of us quitting and not turning back…i hope you can help me..thanks for the help in advance

p.s i started with vicodin and percocets but eventually it led to morphine (10 mgs) and oc’s (only the 20 mgs tho) but im not just doing the harder ones i varey between the stronger ones and the less strong ones depends on who i get them from first and its usually only one pill i dont try to do like 3 or 4 or something like that….

also if you can live without the drug for at least four days or longer does that mean your not addicted…i have the restraignt to say no but if i WANT to do it its diffrent…does that mean im still addicted??

First of all if you are taking drugs just for social side of things then yes you have a problem.

Lets take a few points here and split them down. You say you take pills to stop you eating as your putting weight on.. Instead of this go to weightwatchers and loose weight properly taking drugs will not stem your appetite for ever.

You need to ring a drug advisory clinic near where you live or go and see your doctor.. 10mg of morphine and oc are in your system for days.

I take morphine as oc made me ill. I dont use it every day, I have chronic osteoarthritis, i am on a high dosage but it just clears the pain doesnt make me high as im prescribed it strictly and monitored by a pain team. First thing you will notice is your pupils become small when doing this. Even if you dont take it for the next couple of days its in your system, So just because you havent taken for a few days doesnt mean to say your not addicted.

It sounds as though you have a lot of problems and either need to go and get help as a couple and get sorted or split up before it becomes to late and your ending up a proper druggie..your in early stages of addiction and with the right help can come out of it.

I hate taking mine from the doctors and im the opposite of you they always telling me to take mine for the pain, but i respect the drug and its side effects and use it cautiously.

Please go and get help x
