Well, since the drug in tobacco–the drug nicotine–is a very very powerfully addicting one–it’s reported more addicting than heroin–wouldn’t it more more likely just be the normal thing, that its echoes and flashbacks are going to re-occur occasionally? Even maybe occasionally over time measured in years, or years and years (depending upon how heavilyt/how long the person used the nicotine).

I think most of us ex-smokers end up realizing that such occasions may happen, though probably less severely and probably less frequently, over time. We end up maybe at such times, to do well to remind ourselves intensely of all the reasons why we quite, of all the negatives of smoking, and maybe even those far worse (probably) first couple days , or few days or week or whatever period of time we found hard immediately upon our quitting. Because that brief period of time probably was actually harder than anything that will come after–provided we are able to remember it right.

Usually INTENSE urges and discomfor that lasts at allt, or milder but somewhat more lasting urges, shouldn’t really be happening all that much after , what do they say, the first week or two. When they ‘do” happen for anyone, then whether it’s normal or not, seems maybe the most important thing is to address them, such as reviewing coping methods and such or if necessary even seeking some kind of distinct help such as “outside help” or renewing whatever coping actions you took back when first quitting. Quitting seems almost always for major real reasons, so why not do all possible to avoid slipping and losing the progress made. Staying quit stands to be worth it!
