Dexter isn’t talking about drugs. He’s talking about his addiction to killing people.
As far as I know, the term was coined (in this context) by the author of the Dexter novels.
If you just want synonyms for “addiction”, try habit, compulsion, dependence, need, obsession, or craving.
The only other slang term for addiction that I can think of is an old-fashioned one: “He’s got a monkey on his back”, which used to refer mainly to heroin addiction.

I’m 15 years old and recently I’ve been so fascinated by drugs. I will literally spend hours in my free time researching all kinds of different drugs. It started with weed and then I went on to research all kinds of drugs like acid, ecstasy, shrooms, meth, cocaine, heroin, etc. After all my research, the only drugs I would consider trying are marijuana and maybe shrooms, but I’m going to wait at least a few more months before doing anything.
Anyway, my point is.. I am so so so so interested in drugs. Is that normal, or is it bad to be so interested in them, or what?

We are adopting a baby that was born with amphetamines and opiates in it’s system. I am not familiar with drugs at all. What kind of drug would the mother be taking to get this mixture to her unborn child. I highly doubt it is prescription, as she would never go to the dr while pregnant.I’m sure it’s a street drug one could make at home. I want to do research on this and worst case scenarios we could look for as the baby’s central nervous system grows. We love the baby no matter what, but what kind of help could she need? I can only get those answers if I know what drug to look up, I guess. We see a neurologist soon. Just curious, meanwhile. Thanks

Let’s say you had $ 100 million dollars , were not married, had no kids, would it be acceptable to indulge in illegal hard drugs(heroin, cocaine, meth etc) if you have:
a. hurt nobody (except perhaps yourself which you are ok with).
b. had more money than you could ever spend, and certaintly not have to work ever again.
c. accepted that you could overdose or significantly shorten your life, but do not have a problem with that?
Would it be acceptable to abuse illegal and/or legal prescription drugs?

withdrawal from anything used abusively is not at all bad.. so quit as early while you can.. drugs dat could get u killed for withdrawal? hmm.. i dont think der is one..
