From what I have read (..and “done” in my wasted youth.I don’t condone or criticize anyone for doing drugs as I feel that is their choice. I feel a person should be FULLY aware of what they’re doing and WHY they are doing it.) there are several factors; drug make-up, drug quality, dosage, physical condition and brain chemistry of the “participant”(i.e. if someone suffers from clinical depression where their serotonin levels are low, taking XTC would literally kill them, as it releases ALL of person’s serotonin at one time). An outstanding site to check is http://www.erowid.org
They cover everything from drug history, chemical make-up,dosage,laws,etc.
Worth investigating.

If you’re detoxing ‘cold turkey’, the pain you took it for may return as the drug ‘leaves’ you. If you’re being helped by a pro, tell them & they can help ease it another way.

You can get help at your city-county Health Dept.
If you’re under 18, it may be a problem for you without parental permission in writing.

Withdrawal From Prescription Painkillers?

Question by Turd Ferguson: Withdrawal from prescription painkillers?
i’ve been on prescription painkillers due to minor surgery. i have been taking them for a week & today is the last of my meds. should i be concerned about withdrawal symptoms?

Best answer:

Answer by wards_angel
I doubt it, but it truly depends on what kind of meds you were taking. For example, Vicodin (hyrdocodone) is much less harmful than say Oxycontin (a synthetic form of opiate very close to heroin). If it is as you say a minor surgery, I would be willing to bet you were taking Vicodin and that your “withdrawals” will be present, though minor. You may feel ill for a few days and have some mild intestinal upset. All in all you’ll alright.

If, however, you were prescribed a stronger opiate, seek professional help, that is, ask your doctor.
