Methadone/opiates and Pregnancy – for Medical Professionals Only, Please.?

Question by troubledinparadise: Methadone/opiates and pregnancy – For medical professionals only, please.?
I am a 32 y/o woman with extreme back & neck pain which has gotten progressively worse over the last 12 years. 2+ years ago when I became pregnant (unexpectedly) I was on very high amounts of opiate pain medications (160 mg oxycontin, 10-15 percocets/day, + anti-depressants, Vallium, etc.). Immediately upon finding I was pregnant I began speaking with my doctors about decreasing and eventually getting off all medications. I was very concerned about my baby being born addicted and having to go through withdrawal symptoms and after much debate, my doctor (OB and pain management) assured me it was safe for me to detox off of my medication. It was difficult but I did it. I ceased most meds and decreased the opiates (oxycontin) to 10 mg. twice a day which my OB and the local university hospital decided was where I should stay through delivery.

I’m concerned. Enough to know that alcohol is toxic, I don’t want to get wasted, sick or harm my health.

1. Yes. My father’s side has an alcoholic or two in the distant relatives but my mother’s side of the family? ALBINO-Drug Addicted-WHITE TRASH.

I’m actually ashamed FOR my father that he had such low standards as to “hit” that…

My mother’s side of the family only has one or two “Good” people… Out of the WHOLE family… The rest are drug/alcohol and/or mentally ill sacks of human waste that should be expunged from the planet for the good of the species.

Your feet, legs, hips, back and neck are all connected and if you are having problems in one area, it could affect all other areas of your body.

Answer by Lady Rainicorn
Absolutely.

Your back is an indicator of the health of your whole lower body.

This is why so many people can use Insoles in their shoes to stop back pain.

Now… Don’t get offended by the following. I don’t know you so I need to speak in generalities and in general, the following is spot on accurate.

How to Wean Off Hydrocodone?

Question by hushlam: How to wean off Hydrocodone?
I’m going to wean off hydrocodone. Been taking about 6-7 10mg pills a day for few months. Does anyone have advice on how to wean myself off and do you think I will experience severe withdrawals? I’m scared. Thank you.

Hi.

Well, when it comes to weaning off any opiates….one should expect to experience some amount of withdrawals.
But,if you really want to wean yourself off,and hope to experience less withdrawals(still experience some amount though)?
You should slowly taper off by 1 half a tablet per day until your completely off the Hydrocodone.
This should make the weaning much easier for you,as well as the withdrawals.
Make sure you stay well hydrated during the weaning process, and also try to eat a well balanced diet during this process also.Remember? Being scared is to be expected when weaning off opiates/an addiction. So,keep focused on your goal, and taper off 1 half a tablets per day until your completely off the Hydrocodone altogether.Done!
You’ll get there.Just remember to stay focused on your goal….getting off these things once and for all! 1 and a half tablets per day until your completely off.Stay well hydrated, and eat a well balanced diet.Good luck to you.
