Hi. My boyfriend is a heroin addict. He snorts quite a lot of it everyday. He would really like to go on methadone,he thinks its the only thing that will work. Dont tell me how addictive it is please and dont judge. I have called around and was told he has to fail at other programs before he could be accepted into that one. I guess I understand where they are coming from to an extent but at the same time I feel its unfair. He should be able to give it a try. He has tried suboxone and has went to meetings . He has tried cold turkey. He has tried therapy. Nothing has worked so why do they need legal proof he will fail a detox?! Help please. Question by Brian M: does the drug suboxone/subutex come in a rectangular, purple pill that tastes like candy?
i recently got a “suboxone” pill from a friend in order to detox from a heroin addiction. he said that he was broke so the doctor gave him a cheaper option than the normal orange, hexagonal 8 mg tablet. the pill is shaped like a rectangular box-like thing that is sweet to the taste and purple in color.
did i get ripped off, or has anyone heard of this type of suboxone?

First of all, it is illegal to give another person prescribed medications.

Second, Suboxone is a brand-only medication, and only made by one manufacturer-Reckitt Benckiser Pharmaceuticals Inc. It is dispensed as a sublingual, hexagonal, orange tablet.

You not only got ripped off, you could have been seriously injured by taking this medication.    Read more...

Question by Chloe Megan: Can you become addicted to opioids using tramadol?
The BNF states that tramadol is not suitable in people with opioid addiction. So does this mean that tramadol is not addictive?

The BNF also states that one of the side effects of tramadol is diarrhea which doesn’t stick to the normal rules of opioids.
