Question by r.k.: Should I allow a drug addict to move in with my spouse and I?
This is a sensitive topic so please think before posting. One of my spouse’s relatives is a heroin addict although that person claims that they have only “slipped a couple of times” since going through detox (no rehab) a few months ago. my spouse is considering letting them move in so that they can save money to get a place of their own, but they have moved from place to place for the same reason and each time they have either been kicked out or “had to move” because they “felt they were being taken advantage of” by the people they were living with. I feel that if they move in with us, they will have no reason to leave and will be with us forever…plus the fact that I think they are still using drugs and if that addiction is bad enough will start stealing from us. I also dont like the people they associate with and that is another concern…since they dont have a job I would worry about who is in my home when Im at work.    Read more...

Question by Steve: Where can I find help with heroin addiction?
I am currently unemployed uninsured and totally out of options. I have tried to cut back and use less cold turkey warm turkey you name it. Nothing works. I get through a day or two and have to use to not end up killing myself because the withdrawal is so bad. I am homeless and staying here and there. I have ran out of options and money. I have lied cheated stole or whatever I needed to to get H. I am so tired of living like this but I don’t know where to turn. I have a child and a wife who I love and I want to get clean for. I always thought I’d quit when I had to but I feel so powerless now. This stuff has ruined my life and I need help. I appreciate any help anyone could offer for this. I don’t want to keep doing this. I have no money no home and all of my friends are tired of my lies and taking care of me. I feel alone and powerless and all I want is to have my family back and to get back to my life. Is there any way I can get help to beat this. I am willing to do anything to have my life back and stop. Please help! I have access to a computer and internet as I am staying with a friend but that won’t last long as I have already wronged them in order to get my fix. Question by ?Dede?: Am i addicted to Xanax?
First off i am prescribed xanax for anxiety. But i think it is causing more harm than good.
I have been taking .25 mg about 5 days a week since october.
I feel wonderful when i am taking it, but when i am not, i feel like shit.
Like today, i didn’t take it but i took it yesterday. Today i have had a headache, i just felt out of it, anxiety, mood swings, nausea and diarreah. I bet if i took a xanax i would feel better.

Does it sound like i am dependent on it?

Also the doctor switched me to klonopin and she wants me to take it every day but i am thinking twice about doing it because i don’t want to become any more dependent on medication than i already am.
Anyone else in the same situation

Question by autumn: Location of rapid detox for alcohol center near Modesto, Ca.?
A couple years ago I ran into some tragedies in my work and personal life. I started drinking alcohol to help me sleep. It worked. I felt great when I wake up and I perform great at work.

However, the amount of alcohol I am drinking has increased to the point where I do not know what to do. Since I only drink in the privacy of my bedroom right before I go to sleep very few people are aware I am drinking.

Now I want to get the alcohol out of my life but I am having problems. I work full time and like the place I am working at. If I were to go cold turkey the side effects would be obvious everyone I work with. I know because I have already tried and get terrible results.
