What Do You Think of Medicinal Marijuana? a Local Slant?

Question by handyman: What do you think of medicinal marijuana? A local slant?
In my state, medical marijuana is legal and licensed, although this is a fairly recent occurrence. A man was recently fired from Wal-Mart because he failed a mandatory drug test. As it turns out, he carries a card that entitles him the right to smoke pot for a medical condition. (They didn’t state on the news report what it was.) His lawyers claim that he was unjustly fired because he wasn’t doing anything illegal. Wal-Mart’s lawyers claim that they do not have to follow state guidelines, because they are justified in firing the man according to federal law. So, what’s the answer?
@answers smartass – It’s a good thing you don’t smoke pot, because if you did, your answer would even more misspelled and poorly punctuated.

wal-mart can f*** anybody over because to them, nobody is indispencable.
they probably know they are in the wrong, because they OBVIOUSLY are. but they have pride issues and are fighting it in an attempt to be right, and make people that much more worthless in the wal-mart workplace

Marijuana, as a recreational intoxicant, is FAR FAR FAR less damaging to the body and brain than the socially acceptable drug, Alcohol. On this basis, I feel it is horrific to keep Marijuana Illegal while alcohol is Legal.

In terms of medical use of marijuana, if you can benefit from its use, I do not understand why it would be illegal.

My aunt died of Cancer back when I was 7 and my father went out and bought marijuana and gave it to her because her medications to treat the effects of the cancer treatment were not doing a goddamned thing.

My friend in Arizona had his cancer come back in 2001 and spread to his lymph-nodes and he was in horrible pain and torment before it finally killed him and the only relief he could find that would allow him to stay conscious was marijuana. Towards the end, he was given liquid morphine for the pain, it was so bad…

I, personally, have seen what marijuana can do when used as medicine and it is an abomination for our government to maintain its stance of prohibition on a drug, and yes it is a drug, that can do so much good for the ill and actually help society by lessening the addiction of alcohol on our population.

Addiction Medicine has documented that you need the series of genetic and mental predisposition in order to be CAPABLE of getting addicted to anything… And of those that are capable of addiction, only a small percentage of that group is even physically and mentally able to become addicted to Marijuana.

When a person becomes addicted to Marijuana, it is a PROFOUND addiction that is on par with opium addiction, but of the 100% of people that have what is colloquially know as “The Addiction Gene”, only 10% of those are ABLE to get hooked on weed.

100% of that group can get hooked on opiates, alcohol, coke, etc. but 90% of them are not CAPABLE of becoming addicted to marijuana.

Considering that only a percentage of the general population of the human race has “The Addiction Gene”, it lowers the risk of Addiction to marijuana for EVERYONE down to a super small percentage of the planet.

Considering the damage that Alcohol has done to our species, I am shocked that it is still legal and acceptable while marijuana is worthy of prison.

Marijuana was made illegal due to political pressure by those that had cornered the Cotton Market because hemp is such a spectacular fiber that also has the ability to be a food and oil crop.

These cotton moguls used racial prejudice and propaganda to convince the populous that marijuana was more dangerous than anything else because it, and I am not making this up, made “Minorities” want to rape white women and make our children want to go out and kill.

There is so much documentation on the reasons behind the prohibition of Marijuana yet The War On Drugs has become such a lucrative business, artificially inflating the prices of this illegal plant, that the feds, the growers, the brokers, the distributers, and the dealers want to keep it illegal because it keeps profit margins high.

I haven’t used marijuana since 2006 when it started to lead to anxiety. I don’t like to drink alcohol either and have never done speed, heroin, crack, etc. etc. etc.

I, personally, react poorly to marijuana and therefore do not use it, but to make an INDUSTRY out of the “War on Drugs” is nothing but a scam and fills up our prisons with non violent offenders while rapists and child molesters get off with a slap on the wrist.

A California Man is threatened with 127 years, yes One Hundred and Twenty Seven Years, in prison for running a legal medical marijuana dispensary with the approval of all state and local authorities.

Yet a rapist can get out of prison in as little as 3 years… And a sexual predator, on average, gets away with 7 assaults before they are finally captured and successfully convicted.

We spend 30 BILLION DOLLARS a year on the War On Drugs while thousands upon thousands of rape kits sit on the shelves waiting for the funding to become available to test them for DNA.

Every day, untested rape kits are thrown in the trash because the statute of limitations on the rape have expired… All because we don’t have the funds to test them… Yet we piss away billions of dollars tracking, arresting, prosecuting, and housing pot smokers?

How, exactly, does that make sense?

Go to Google and find the criteria for making a substance a Scheduled Drug. Read it point by point and see how Alcohol and Tobacco meet the criteria FAR more than Marijuana, yet those two substances make too much money to make them illegal… Since people would revolt if they tried to treat Alcohol or Tobacco like they do marijuana.

Oh, and BTW… Marijuana is NOT a “Narcotic”. Narcotic: The term narcotic (pronounced /n?r?k?t?k/) strictly refers (medically) to any psychoactive compound with morphine-like effects (see Opiate). A Narcotic is defined as a drug as opium or morphine that in moderate doses relieves pain and induces deep sleep. Excessive use can cause tremors and seizures. However, the term is also used colloquially to refer to any psychoactive drug that induces sleep. Examples of narcotics include morphine, laudanum, and heroin. While Marijuana contains: The major psychoactive chemical compound in cannabis is ?9-tetrahydrocannabinol (commonly abbreviated as THC). At least 66 other cannabinoids are also present in cannabis, including cannabidiol (CBD), cannabinol (CBN) and tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV) among many others, which are believed to result in different effects than those of THC alone.[5]

DO YOUR RESEARCH PEOPLE. Don’t buy in to the propaganda. Major international studies have shown greatly different results than the pre-determined, censored, or outright dismissed “Studies” the american scientists put out.
