Question by Maynard: How do I train my dog to come back to me when i call?
I want to know how to effectively teach my dog recall. At the moment, I call her, then (if I’m lucky) she stops and looks at me, then looks at where she wants to go and clearly thinks; ‘Screw him =) ‘ How do I make myself more attractive than the other dog/area/person to my dog? She can do all the basic commands when she comes to me (sit,down,beg,roll,stay…) thanks!

You need: a quiet secure place, a helper and a hand full of dog treats.
Take you dog to the quiet place and ask the person to hold your dog at one side (without fussing her or she won’t move!) and you go to the other (not too far away) and say come here or whatever you want. When she comes, give her a treat and repeat 2 or 3 times a couple of times a day.
When she gets better at that, take her somewhere larger without distractions and slowly add distractions.
It sounds simple, i know and its more difficult than that but thats how i taught my dog and he comes every single time.
You also have to give a reason for her to come back (food, walk, treat…) and never get angry when she does go to you.

Treats. Hot dogs cut into little pieces work excellent! Keep a few in your pocket. Hold one up, call her, and when she comes, give her a treat. Tell her to sit, when she does, give her a treat. Reward her, when she does good, simple as that!
