Question by ?: How would one learn to train a dog for herding?
I know lots can buy “pre-trained” dogs. But since i have a small hobby farm it’s not something i have a demand for. I am able to, well want, to train my own dogs. I just don’t know exactly how to go about doing this. Is there a website that teaches you the different commands? How to start? Etc?
Kalli don’t be rude. But throwing a dog in with livestock is extremely dangerous not only for the dog but for the livestock too. I thought your answer was sarcastic but i guess you were being serious?

WEll, this is how – you research – go onto utube and find pet training videos.

I suggest you find an experienced trainer to mentor under. Ask around to find out who in your area trains their own herding dogs.
