Need Tips on Training New Pup?

Question by : Need tips on training new pup?
Athena is my pitbull 6 weeks old. I’d like tips on potty training eating habits and just any good habits to get into. It has been a while since I owned a pup so any help is good. She will be raised as an inside dog but we have a mutt outside she will be friends with. My wife and I both work so we can’t always be there but we also have a garage we could make a pen in or a crate until she is old enough to hang outside. Like I said any useful information will be greatly appreciated.

Treats treats treats!
You have to make everything for a puppy extremely rewarding for them.
As for potty training, hes 6 weeks old so he needs to go to the bathroom about every our and a half; make sure you reward him even if he does not go potty so he understands that going outside is a task that he will be rewarded for. Crate training is a must, if he does not do the deed outside put him in his crate for 10 minutes and take him back outside. ( you can get very nice crates on amazon for good prices).
Good luck!

For food, it best not to just leave food lying around for her to eat as she pleases. It works for some dogs, but for others they over eat and become overweight which causes health problems. So put the food bowl down for about 15-20 min, if she does not eat it all pick it up and give her her dinner the same way. She will learn that when you feed her it's time to eat. She needs to eat 2-3 times a day until she is around 4 months old then 2 for the rest of her life. As for potty training, CRATE CRATE CRATE.(: find a metal crate (even a used one on Craigslist) make sure it has the puppy divider. Make it just big enough for her to turn around and lay down in. Dogs are the same as humans, they don't want to lay in their own feces. As young as she is though she will probably need to go out once at night. Make the crate a safe place. Make it nice and soft and praise her when she goes into it. Leave the door open when you are there and take her out about every hour. It works so fast! Good luck!
