Multi-Year Ultram Abuser Needs Help Sobering Up (Long)?

Question by owned by Milo and Toby: Multi-year Ultram abuser needs help sobering up (Long)?
I’ve gotten up to 60 pills a day. The only opiate detox symptom I don’t get is vomiting- instead I get ravenously hungry.

My other symptoms are as thus:

Goose bumps, anxiety, watery eyes and nose, yawning. did I mention anxiety? Irritabitlity, insomnia (BAD), and weirdly enough, extreme sexual arousal. I get a hoarse voice and lack of energy….

but anyways I went 8 days without (after the second day detox I almost died by OD’in on Valium and Benadryl- my mom called the ambulance and I spend the next three-four days in the psych ward. Anyways I’ve since gotten out. Was set out on Seroquel and Celexa.

How Did the Saying “Cold Turkey” Come About?

The term has been around for ages it seems. “Let’s talk turkey” probably stems from the turkey gobble sounds themselves. And some say “cold turkey” was next.

Some think “cold turkey” came about because of the comparison between drug withdrawal and the dead bird.
Cold and wet skin with big goose bumps. (See we get your bird in too!)

If no one knew it before, John Lennon made “Cold Turkey” famous in 1969 as the title of his song about his own withdrawal from a short term addiction to heroin.

Other Than Releasing Chemicals Such as Dopamine Into the Body, What Else Do Drugs Do?

Question by Bryan: Other than releasing chemicals such as dopamine into the body, what else do drugs do?
Dopamine is the pleasure hormone, but drugs do more than just give pleasure. Cannabis, for increase, relaxes muscles and relieves nausea, while morphine kills pain. Both drugs interact with neurons to release more dopamine, but the two drugs have different properties.

What else do these drugs do to the body?

the exact date/year is unknown but it means you have had your fill and dont want it anymore. specifically it is from the thanksgiving holiday after you have stuffed yourself with turkey and the next day all that is in the fridge is cold turkey and you cant even look at it. so when people say cold turkey they mean thats it they have had enough.

Cold turkey
Meaning

The state addicts are in when withdrawing from drug addiction. Also, predominantly in the U.S.A., plain speaking.

Origin

Of course, the term ‘cold turkey’ in the literal ‘cold meat’ sense appears many times in recipes – ‘cold turkey salad’ etc. Neither of the meanings above appear to have any allusory link back to that.

“What are the street names/slang terms for Heroin?

Big H, Blacktar, Brown sugar, Dope, Horse, Junk, Mud, Skag, Smack.

What is Heroin ?

Heroin is a highly addictive drug derived from morphine, which is obtained from the opium poppy. It is a “downer” or depressant that affects the brain’s pleasure systems and interferes with the brain’s ability to perceive pain.

What does it look like?

White to dark brown powder or tar-like substance.

How is it used?

Heroin can be used in a variety of ways, depending on user preference and the purity of the drug. Heroin can be injected into a vein (“mainlining”), injected into a muscle, smoked in a water pipe or standard pipe, mixed in a marijuana joint or regular cigarette, inhaled as smoke through a straw, known as “chasing the dragon,” snorted as powder via the nose.

What Are the Withdrawal Symptoms of Heroin?

Question by Vikki: What are the withdrawal symptoms of heroin?
My boyfriend of 2 years started using heroin I’m guessing around 4-5 months ago after his accident which he got an extreme pain in his back. But last month he went into detox and a volunteer treatment for a week and now he claims he hasn’t done it since. He acts weird sometimes, but he tells me it’s just the withdrawal symptoms. He gets really tired and falls asleep sitting up, has stomach and headaches, his pupils are normal one minute and then tiny the next, he’s irritable, and can’t sleep at night. He also has medication for anxiety, which I think also has a role in causing these. I really want to believe him that he hasn’t done it since detox, but there are times when I’m not sure. He just makes it seem a lot easier to quit than it is made out to be, which causes me to think he really hasn’t. Is it possible that he hasn’t done it since then, and are those symptoms of using it or withdrawals? And what should I do to help him. No stupid answers, please.
