Methadone(opiate Addiction)?
Question by Tom: Methadone(opiate addiction)?
I’m starting, hopefully, my methadone treatment tomorrow. I’ve been on heroin in the past, the last time I’ve used heroin was over three years ago. Except for one slip up about 7 months ago. Well ever since I put heroin down three years ago(cold turkey) I’ve been abusing pills, up until one year I found suboxone/subutex. It was great I would take it daily but not be high I’d be just “normal” and “level”, plus it took away my depression so it was my wonder drug until I couldn’t afford the Dr and could find them on the street anymore. I have never been through a worst withdrawal or ever felt worst than coming off of buprenorphine. I just can’t function, eat, think, sleep anything of course add on the typical opiate withdrawal symptoms. The last subutex I took was about 3-4 days ago and withdrawal is already here. So I guess my question is will I have a problem at the clinic getting dosed tomorrow? Am I making a mistake by going on methadone? I just can’t come off of buprenorphine, I’ve even tried tapering down I can’t do it. I honestly want off all drugs and to be done with all of this. I had an easier time coming off of heroin than buprenorphine. Someone anyone advice please ASAP.
I’m Trying to Stop Smoking, Will It Get Easier?
Question by rileymorgan: I’m trying to stop smoking, will it get easier?
I’m on day one of my attempt to quit smoking, it’s been about 12 hours since I had a cigarette. It sucks, but the worst thing was that I was mean most of the evening. I am keeping busy, but feel like I stop and think “I’m going to get up and get a cigarette”..then I remember I can’t. This happens about 10 times every 5 minutes.
Will this go away, or even lighten up? Seems like the mean/grumpiness and the mistaken thoughts that its time to smoke are all that are getting to me, but it’s really irritating.

It will when you’re over it. Good to hear that you’re quitting cold turkey, that’s the way to do it!

I hate to be the one to tell you, but the only thing that really works is to drink a BOATLOAD of water (8+ glasses per day….I know it’s more than you feel like you can take, but it’s the only way), excercise with wild abandon (we’re talking at LEAST an hour a day of pushing yourself to your limit), and avoid things that slow your metabolism, like heavy foods and “downers.”
Answer by The Ugly Truth
The people who are telling you to drink water, want you to fail.
Water does not work, it never works, and it’s also not very safe either to drink huge amounts of it.
Allow Daughter to Come Home From Jail or Tough Love?
Question by Ann O: Allow Daughter to come home from jail or Tough Love?
My daughter has been in jail for the past 6 weeks for breaking her probation.
She is 26 years old & has been a heroin addict for 9 years. She’s in jail because her urine screen came back dirty (positive for heroin). Six weeks ago, before going to jail, she overdosed in her boyfriends car. She had turned blue, was foaming at the mouth and wasn’t breathing. My some Miracle, the boyfriend was able to finally revive her. This is the 3rd time in 9 years that she’s overdosed. The last time was 4 years ago – which she tells me is a big improvement.
She has been to short term (1 week) rehab several times, inpatient detox 4 or 5 times, most recently a 4 month residential treatment facility (all paid for by State because she is in the Drug Court program).
