You will always have cravings but the detox will take several days and is very dangerous. The degree depending on how heavy into the opiates you were.
Also, to be completely honest with you, the best way to deal with it is to move and start a whole new life with different routines away from any of the fellow abusers that you may have run with in the past.
If you are not willing to put yourself into a program right off(which you should eventually no matter how cured you believe yourself to be) you should try to get yourself a sponser or at least a new clean PATIENT friend who will be there for you to turn to in the case of temptations or just moral support in general. Be very careful in choosing this confidant. Many people believe a former abuser to be the best sponser, but sometimes that person could be tempted into relapse along with you, which supports you the opposite way.
What Does the Cold Tukey Mean in the Phrase “Quitting Cold Turkey” ?

It means just cutting it out of your life, abruptly. Like a smoker for example. I f a smoker quits cold turkey, that means that he didn’t just cut back on cigarettes a little bit, he just stopped smoking them altogether.
Hope this helps! Good Luck! 😀
Answer by callmebillybob
It means to just all of a sudden stop.

Need Tips on Training New Pup?
Question by : Need tips on training new pup?
Athena is my pitbull 6 weeks old. I’d like tips on potty training eating habits and just any good habits to get into. It has been a while since I owned a pup so any help is good. She will be raised as an inside dog but we have a mutt outside she will be friends with. My wife and I both work so we can’t always be there but we also have a garage we could make a pen in or a crate until she is old enough to hang outside. Like I said any useful information will be greatly appreciated.

Help With Opiate Withdrawals , OTC Meds Only!?
Question by Laina: Help with opiate withdrawals , OTC meds only!?
I’m trying to quit cold turkey here (no methadone, no bupes). I am not a crazy drug addict or anything. I have just been taking Norco/Lorcet (depending on which of my two doctors I go to) for around 4 years. I’m tired of feeling worried and anxious when I run out, which I always do. Not because of abuse, but because of the doctor’s instructions on taking it and how often he/she will prescribe it. Norco is supposed to last two weeks, which is does, but I cannot afford to go to my doctor every two weeks. Lorcet lasts longer, since it has less dosages, but it is even worse. I run out, but I am scripted THIS by my OBGYN (I have very bad endometriosis) and she charges insane prices just to have her check out my female parts and write a prescription. Hundreds of dollars for a few minutes of uncomfortable examination and a script.
Some Kind of “Dog Classes” for Teens….?
Question by nickkelly4dogs: Some kind of “dog classes” for teens….?
I really need something to do for the summer and since I really love dogs, I thought that maybe I could learn more about them. Whether, it’s a doggy grooming class, training class, as long as it’s for teens or for kids then it’s fine. Also, if anyone knows where a 14 year old can get a job dealing with dogs (grooming, daycare, etc)…then it would be greatly appreciated….thanks so much!

local dog shelter
Answer by Kiki
You can try your local shelter. However, most won’t accept anyone below 18, or at least 16. I want to do something with dogs too, but I’m still too young too.
Maybe you could ask neighbors or friends if you could walk/pet sit their dog.
Good luck! And try your local shelter. Or maybe start a dog walking business.
How Can I Get My Boyfriend to SERIOUSLY Understand That It’s “drugs” or “me”?
Question by Chloe: How can I get my boyfriend to SERIOUSLY understand that it’s “drugs” or “me”?
First of all, this is a tad long so if you get bored reading long questions, I would stop here. I just need to give some background.
We are both Heroin addicts. I’ve been on the Methadone program for 2 years now and was doing quite well. Methadone (sometimes called a legal heroin substitute but it doesn’t get you high at proper doses) keeps you from going through withdrawl and blocks the effects of heroin and other opiates if you do use. However, I’ve started detoxing. I didn’t feel sick or anything because it’s a slow detox. The problem is that my dose is low enough now that I can get “high” off of opiates like Heroin. Metadone usually blocks the euphoric effects when at a proper dose. I can NOT go back up on my dose at this point in detox but I can maintain my current dose and stop detoxing.
