How Long Do Tramadol Withdrawal Symptoms Last?

Question by m123: How long do tramadol withdrawal symptoms last?
I stopped using tramadol cold turkey (after heavy use for about a month) about 3 and a half weeks ago and I have no more actual “withdrawals” but I still feel severly depressed. I was not nearly this depressed before I started using tramadol. The week after I stopped I had thoughts of suicide, the depression was so bad. So how much longer is this depression supposed to last?

Anyone have any insight on this?

Tramadol is an opiate painkiller that is a derivative of heroin. It is a very difficult addiction to break, which is why so many people stay hooked. I’m not saying you are addicted, but it sounds like physically you were dependent upon the drug.

Withdrawal From Opiates Help?

Question by gocats2009: Withdrawal from opiates help?
Trying to kick my opiate habit and it’s been a tough process but i’ve been doing better lately. I quit last thursday and ive been feeling terrible and having cold chills and sweats and bad sleeping at night and an upset stomach. But my question is i got to the point sunday night i couldn’t take it so i had about 50 mg of oxycodone and didn’t use again til tonight and i had about 30 mg of oxy. This is definitely better than my every day use but is this messing up my detox and just pro longing the withdrawls or is it better to slowly taper down. as this is the first time ive actually been serious about quitting I just don’t know what else to do. Any support or suggestions would be very helpful please no criticism i already feel bad enough that i went down this path and started using but i’ve realized this isn’t how i want to live forever. Thanks in advanced for any help !
Thanks katie t. I’ve heard of suboxone and tried it once. I’ve just been in some legal trouble lately and don’t want to bring this up with my parents it, I know it would kill them to know. Could my family doctor help me with this and prescribe me something or would i have to go to a certain doctor. Is there anyway i could email you and talk more about this, that would be greatly appreciated

Questions About Heroin for a Story?

Question by Shelly P. Tofu, E.M.T.: Questions about Heroin for a story?
I need some information about Heroin for a short work of fiction.. Because I know nothing about drugs. LOL..

Specifically I need to know:

1. How someone acts and looks when they’re “high” on heroin
2. How someone acts/looks when they’re “coming off” heroin (especially when they’re “jonesing” for their next fix)
3. Approximately how long the effects last (to know whether the character in the story is still high or not at certain points).
4. Can someone become addicted the first time and be jonesing for more within a few hours?

Any similar information would be helpful.. thanks!

Oh.. P.S. Is this the best category for this question, if not, which categories might I get the best answers.
By “Coming off” I mean more how they act when coming down from the high.. when the drug wears off… and their body starts craving more.. I’m not so much talking about full-fledged withdrawal.

For Any Dual Diagnosis Bipolar Plus Heroin Addicts Out There?

Question by Annie: For any dual diagnosis bipolar plus heroin addicts out there?
We have a family member that is struggling with a “dual diagnosis” — bipolar disorder and substance addiction. Drug of choice is Heroin, but will take whatever is available.

As members of this person’s concerned family we’d like to know — from somebody who had the same problem — what helped you? This person is a late-aged teenager, has been through multiple residential rehabs (months in duration), only to return to home (to intensive outpatient, psychiatrist and personal counselor support, along with NA meetings) and do it all again. All of us in the family are ready to get off this roller-coaster of horror and the parents are ready to withdraw all support and let this young adult sink or swim on her own, as they’ve exhausted the family finances and fear for the rest of the families’ safety. This is a nice middle class educated family, not abusive nor others in the immediate family with addiction issues.

Question by JT289385: I started on a regimin of 80mg of methadone a day 10 days ago?
10 days ago I used my last hit of heroin , At that time my doc , (which is a addiction specialist ) put me on 80 mg of met a day . In that ten days I have droped myself down to 70mg for the last 4 days and seem to be fine with the drop . Now is this feasible ? to drop 10 mg every 10 days untill I am off ( one quick note )-( I have a very good friend that runs a christian based recovery home that would be dosing my pills ) anyhow in 7 weeks time of droping my dose like this will I experiance any real discomfort ? This is the first time I have been on met and I just started a little better than a week ago . Thanks for any help on this . By the way suboxone is not a option for me .

Hey!! If it is working for you then i’d say stick with it. Different depression medications affect different neurotransmitters in the brain. Paxil is just one of several different antidepressants, personally i’m on zoloft and lithium. Paxil is obviously working very well for you. If you feel good then you should need to have your dosage altered or your medication changed. Different drugs affect different people in different ways so if this is working for you then don’t worry about what everyone else is on. You’ve found something that works and thats the main thing. I hope you feel better soon!! Good luck!! =)
